Anyone ever suffered from the noise?
Discussion
Hi all. Picked up the Griffith last Saturday and since Tuesday had a throbbing pain at the back of my head (specifically a sharp one stab that will repeat itself regularly, sometimes a few minutes later, other times an hour or so later). Went to the Drs but they had no ideas but didn't think it was anything serious. I've also noticed my hearing feels slightly muffled after using the car so I'm wondering if I'm alone experiencing this kind of thing or if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Hopefully this is just a coincidence but I'd be interested in hearing from others with related stories.

What's that? What noise?
My S1's exhaust baffles are loose and it sounds like a thousand vuvuzelas in a giant dustbin. Or an enormous kazoo. Absolutely awful!
To make matters worse I had to put up with this racket for almost 1300 miles on our recent Spa trip.
My ears are still bleeding.....
This is now on my priority list to sort. I can't wait to return to that lovely cheeky raspy sound I previously enjoyed.
That is a strong possibility. The fuelling is often a tad on the rich side and the cars do seem to take in a lot of their own fumes. Mine certainly does, I have often felt sick on track days, especially when following another TVR.
The only times I have a problem with the noise is when it becomes wearisome - my own car on a long motorway journey, or the occasion I ended up following an extremely loud T350 on a TVR run......in the end I pulled over, feigning the need to lower the rear targa section, and rejoined at the back of the peloton. It was like being a spectator at a pigeon shoot.....random and frequent extremely loud bangs and pops, that one had no fun creating oneself.

But seriously, mine does this too: my ears are bleeding, and...it has no 8track with Beegees greatest hits in it, no vanity mirror on the drivers side and worst of all, my coiffure gets all raffled up by not having a proper roof !!
FFS !! , buy an MX 5 !

I hope your comments were intended to be tongue in cheek or you have misunderstood what I am saying here. I'm not complaining about the noise as such, simply that this could pose a health problem for me - if the car is responsible for the problem I'm suffering it has caused physical pain to the back of my head, not necessarily whilst I'm driving it but for a number of days after. Given that I've only driven it for something like 80 miles in total, keeping it may be a bit of a challenge. I'm kind of hoping that the pain is only a coincidence, but time will tell. I've dug out my flying earplugs to try next time I use the car. I suffer badly when flying with blocked ears and pain so I suspect this could be related.

one thing to note is they are very prone to drawing in exhaust fumes in the cab with the roof up and the window slightly open
this can be fixed by adding adding some extra rubber weather strip to the boot lip so you have rubber pressing on rubber as the standard seal doesn't touch the lid
and yes the exhaust can be very loud especially if you have a precat
but it sounds like your discomfort is more fumes /air pressure related

I myself suffer from tinnitus (thru profession) but do not find the noise of my 430 (with cherry-bombs) is in any way attributing to that (long or short term)
As others have said i think it has to do with air pressure, have you tried to drive it 'targa ' ? and thus negating slight vacuums (vacii ?)
Then there is exhaust fumes, but also position of seating (or you are exposing yourself to too high G forces .
) I'm not a doctor, but could it be a mid-ear infection (behind the ear-drum) ?
Simple test to see if the car is to blame, put it in a garage (gate open...) run it for 1 minute or so, and you'll get the full whack, decibels, petrol and exhaust fumes, so you'll soon know.....
(do not kill yourself in the process !! and pain-killers at the ready........)
