Has anyone retro fitted DRLs to a TVR more specifically to a Tamora?

It seems to me that they would be a good fit for where the driving lights / fog lights are which one never uses.

I looked at these 64mm ones ...but have not jumped in. A@ (edited to say, nothing about IP65 rating...THEN, other sites say they are...and they appear to be all over the place). Does Hella do a current FOG/DLR?

Easier just to turn the headlights on if you are worried, rather than mess about with the rubbish TVR wiring and control boxes.

Usual non-constructive and unnecessary post. rolleyes

I think it's a good idea, but also include a lights on warning if that's possible. I've left sidelights on in more than 1 TVR. frown

Nonsense. It's a lot of trouble to go to for an occasionally used car and it's fraught with difficulty. This forum is full of posts about wiring problems, control box failures. Unnecessary messing is foolish. Turning the headlights on is easy.

Like these? DRL and turn signals. I have a spare pair.

Edit to add, I just connected the wires, they worked, they have ever since. Just saying

This is relevant for a Tamora, which uses 7" head lamps under cowls so a standard 7" lamp version with a DLR will swap in.

(yours being a MK1 Chim with a headlamp conversion, which includes the indicators and removing the indicator)

The question starts, "Has anyone retro fitted DRLs to a TVR"

Given the DRL is a separate stand alone item and available on various sizes, yeah, why not? It could fit a Tamora.

Edited to suit...Has anyone retro fitted DRLs to a TVR more specifically to a Tamora? would be correct. Heyho

Q. are they 64mm OD...where are they from, are the rings IP65.

Then, I wonder if the OE ring trim (it is as fitted to all the rear lights on a Tamora) is removable from the Tamora fog light (so as to fit around in place of the trim).

OP, I was looking at our Tamora...which lists as early 'small' fog light. I cannot see the larger MK2 version listed anywhere. (they are two different sizes). A@

Lamps/12v LED stabiliser/power up/off on alternator, +13v.-13v and dim controller on headlamps, water proof connectors (spare lamp set to have and to hold)...including buying new OE lamps (NOS) and replacing steel for S/S brackets for the day the OE items go back in, (first fitted today).

Looking at this now for my Chimaera rebuild.

Bowks - what did you wire your DRLs into? Thanks!

I am also interested in wiring info.

Mine would be going into a Mk 2 Tamora, so instead of the driving lights (which I never use and one isn't working anyway).

The existing sidelight and indicators wire into a control box. If you just want the white light that's ok too. Wiring diagram at the bottom of the linked page.

[Edited to add: Sorry, just seen you replied on the other thread - thread overlap, Doh!]

Many thanks Bowks.

So does this work "intelligently", prioritising the indicator if the white DRL is live and then the indicators go live as well, or is a control box required to cut the white feed?

Intelligent, everything needed is already in the box.
