Hi guys, I originally posted this on the Cerbera forum but thought I would ask a larger group.
The reception on my Cerb radio is crap. I have tried virtually all the normal routes. Direct wiring to battery, different aerials in different locations, suppressors on radio supplies etc, etc. Apparently even DAB is hit and miss on these cars. I have improved the reception over the original system but it is still very poor. ( new aerial is in the boot / roof area )

So, does anybody know a solution, a product or have a TVR that has NORMAL radio reception. Thanks.

Pretty sure that this is normal for Tiv's wink

For those times when you want to chill, rather than listen to that lovely V8; add an iPod connector that mimics a multi-CD changer and use that as a music source. It's much more reliable and you get to listen to musio you actually like !

Paul,

FWIW you may try some copper braid connected between the radio's chassis and car chassis by the shortest possible route.

This may offer a lower impedance route than via the negative battery terminal.

Also, the best type of antenna is a nice long vertical telescopic whip over any other.

My SEAC has a stupid rubber duck antenna which I will not be replacing and will fill the hole.

Much as I enjoy listening to the radio I made a point of pulling mine out once I purchased the TVR biggrin

I gave up on the original aerial fitted a DAB radio with a DAB T Bar aerial as it picks the ground up from the head unit - brilliant, the whole lot can be fitted by Halfords for under £130

If you can hear your radio at all, you are listening to the wrong stereo.

Prw complained about this... The later ecu cured it

People will always trot out clichés like "Why have a radio when you've got a V8?" and "Your exhausts not loud enough if you can hear the radio." But it is sometimes nice to just cruise and listen to the radio. I fitted a powered/amplified antenna in the boot of my Griffith and by and large it's pretty good. 7/10 I'd give it, not how you'd expect it to be in a modern car but good enough. The 6 stacker CD player and amplifier is fine. Have you tried a powered antenna?

I have a 2000 Chimaera and the reception is fine with the engine off. All you can hear with it on is the coil firing. When I do use the stereo, I plug in my iPod - doesn't happen a lot but the wife likes music over the noise and it is nice on long trips.

Mod-wise.com used to do an aerial amplifier that works well. Don't know if they are still in business.

That's what I have. David Beer is still on Pistonheads occasionally.

David Beer doesn't do his amplified system anymore so I fitted an amplified aerial that is a thin strip about 20cm long just above the rear view mirror and it's not as good as a modern system but definitely an improvement.
