poor radio reception
Discussion
Hi guys, I originally posted this on the Cerbera forum but thought I would ask a larger group.
The reception on my Cerb radio is crap. I have tried virtually all the normal routes. Direct wiring to battery, different aerials in different locations, suppressors on radio supplies etc, etc. Apparently even DAB is hit and miss on these cars. I have improved the reception over the original system but it is still very poor. ( new aerial is in the boot / roof area )
So, does anybody know a solution, a product or have a TVR that has NORMAL radio reception. Thanks.

Paul,
FWIW you may try some copper braid connected between the radio's chassis and car chassis by the shortest possible route.
This may offer a lower impedance route than via the negative battery terminal.
Also, the best type of antenna is a nice long vertical telescopic whip over any other.
My SEAC has a stupid rubber duck antenna which I will not be replacing and will fill the hole.
Much as I enjoy listening to the radio I made a point of pulling mine out once I purchased the TVR

People will always trot out clichés like "Why have a radio when you've got a V8?" and "Your exhausts not loud enough if you can hear the radio." But it is sometimes nice to just cruise and listen to the radio. I fitted a powered/amplified antenna in the boot of my Griffith and by and large it's pretty good. 7/10 I'd give it, not how you'd expect it to be in a modern car but good enough. The 6 stacker CD player and amplifier is fine. Have you tried a powered antenna?
