European Breakdown Cover

So I let the Mrs. sort out the travel/mobile phone/breakdown insurance/cover, and she took the best financial option. A very good one, with our bank First Direct.
Of course the breakdown cover does not include Europe. Hmmm. Maybe not so good then, as we tend to drive out at least once each year, maybe more....
Anyone suggest a company where I can buy cover just for Europe, for a week or two? Oh - one that is reliable. I want cheap, but I also want good and know that the two are not synonymous. And bearing in mond that I drive a TVR, reliable is probably more important that cheap

I was with RAC but was getting ripped off just for being a loyal customer 
so switched to Green flag who were brilliant...until they stopped covering me for Europe and both were penalising me for the car's age and one wouldn't cos it was 15 yrs old.
Switched to Nationwide building society "FlexPlus" account end of last year, and it covers me for ANY car I am in, of ANY age throughout Europe and only £10 a month including all the other benefits of the account

As no-one would give me short term cover for the Griff, as it's 17 years old, I ended up with ADAC at an annual cost of €85 (£60 at current rates).
This covers me for whatever I'm driving (or riding) and all over Europe (including the UK). They also throw in personal accident insurance!!
Their documentation is in German but my e-mails (the English ones!!) were answered in English and their phone operators speak excellent English.
It includes recovery back to home as well .

I was looking at this the other day as am going away in Sept to Italy/Switzerland.
I am with the AA too but their inc cover is only for 2 days ! I am going for 10.
So looked on their website....it asked for dates and reg plate of car....response was £122 !
Just for a laugh I tried the Navara plate instead....unknown as guess they call it a van/lorry, so tried entering at as a Pathfinder instead....respons £53 !!!
Guess they don't like TVR's or the age.
I shall check the Cerbs insurance at the weekend and look into RAC.

I'll try to remember to update on here when I book somewhere. I've had another suggestion for the RAC, £65 for a week. Not a TVR though, so investigation necessary....I am with the AA too but their inc cover is only for 2 days !

Just FYI worth checking the small print (as always)...couple of areas to look out for are i) what their approach is if the car is not repairable at roadside i.e. can you get it shipped straight home if you know what is wrong and you don't want an unqualified local garage messing with it, and ii) can you continue your journey in another vehicle or do you need to accompany it home.

Unlike RAC/AA ADAC is a mutual society...it is not a part of a global insurance concern.
A British guy on here with a Tuscan had excellent service from them a couple of years ago whilst on holiday in France...That's what prompted me to go with them. And, for Eu 79.5 (per annum!) for benefits listed by tivver, what's not to like?

I'm no legal expert, but I believe under Eu law they have to offer the same benefits to all European citizens??
The renewals number to call is: 0049 8976 7666 32. When call is answered request an English speaker (maybe with Gutten tag) and you'll get sorted.
Edited to add: the total cost for cover including bank transfer fee was £77.60. The cover is Europe-wide, covers my wife and I and it's the individual that's covered, NOT the car, although I gave details of my Tuscan when first applying and they will recover car to UK to the repairer of choice.
