Austec alternatives...?
Discussion
Resisted posting o/t direct in the Austec three, but, planning ahead, what's the alternative?
I'm east slightly, over in Kent, and have been to Taylor a number of times.
I used to use Austec for the heavier mechanical stuff and Taylor of the higher-end or quality stuff. I would say however, looking at some service costs that Taylor seem, well, not wanting to sound cheap, but.... " excessive". No complaints, nice guys, and cracking service, but with Austec down and out, I'm looking at what my options are down in the southeast for servicing, MoTs etc...?
Anyone able to share their experiences with anyone "local"?

I have used Andy at APM really nice guy who knows his stuff and priced really nice for his services on TVR,s I am in Sittingbourne but it only takes me an hour and 15 mins to get to him, I use Taylor TVR a lot as well great guy and also knows his stuff but as you say not the cheapest on services but he is always busy
I am a big fan of Dan Taylor and as suggested above, he is not the cheapest but is booking weeks in advance. A man in the SE London TVR group is starting doing work on TVRs and Peter Holt has used him and recommended him via Facebook. If you drop me a PM, I will connect you if you want. I haven't used Paul personally but seems to know his stuff.
Austec alternative are easy to find if you are looking for a similar calibre of work eg poor
No such glowing reports from taylor's from me, a mysterious set of advisories that were just plain wrong (as confirmed by the mot tester) and some decidedly below average work and customer service had me looking for a better garage to take the car to this year.
I've used Adam @ Glossy autos this year and they were VERY good, went out of the way to service mine and fix a rough running issue from a damaged dizzy cap, so will happily use them again.
