For sorting out the wobbly nose on my Tamora.

The front subframe, as in the structure that holds the body nose and radiator to the chassis, also known as the crash structure, was cracked, presumably thanks to the occasional nose landing (yes the car is at the correct height) and almost certainly contributed to by something big recently sitting on the nose, as evidenced by a scuff mark high up the bumper.

The part in my car was believed to be an early type (aluminium honeycomb sandwich) before they switched to the later allegedly indestructible composite type, because cars were constantly coming back for this problem.

MOT man notified me of the problem while on the ramp before he got started frown but he was a nice man smile

A symptom is that the headlights move excessively going down a rough road, making signs flicker at you... I had previously chased my own tail with light alignment, the headlight mounts even had missing screws (arghh the self tappers) just to make the red herring extra red. Didn't think of trying to move the nose with my hand, or notice the scuff then.
I'm told this is quite common, so if you got wobbly lights get this checked out.

Anyhow, in a rush because mot was due. I found that S&D in Blackpool could accommodate the timeframe (Plasticman was also very very helpful but hes a busy man) so drove down from Glasgow very early morning, not knowing if they could fix it at all, much less the same day. But they did, and it was a very strong and neat repair. It was great to see a business really making an effort to help.

I even drove it out of their shop and straight into the MOT station next door before they closed and got that done too, all in the same super productive day! smile

Thumbs Up for S&D for their under-body work and fantastic service. This is where I will be going for the pretty new skin too.

Cheers
