Handbrake Cable mod - Ford calipers

Right having spent the thick end of 2 hours trying to get the eyelet of the handbrake cable on to the hook of the caliper after replacing the two rear calipers I conclude that the set up is ste in design and or application.


Thinking how this could be modded I concluded that a slit could be cut into the caliper body to allow the cable to be connected then slid into the housing.

Has anyone done this?

Was discussed just a few days ago.
Can't remember which thread.
A slot was used by some but winding the adjustment back far enough should be all that's required.
