Hi

I have just bought a scondhand car for my son and the seller has put some Bridgestone second hand tyres on the front..they seem to be in great condition lots of tread and no cracking but when i read the date stamp it says

should I just get rid anyway and get new tyres or is this a bridgestone thing?

thanks

If it in't broke, don't fix it.

That would be my approach anyway, unless they are Potenzas, which I would swap even if they were brand new.

Thanks Guys I was really getting confirmation that the tyres are 14 years old due to the stamp on them..

No, they look like week 09 of 2019.

Appreciate it's an Australian link, but this is Bridgestone's own take on tyre age:

Easy mistake on Japanese tyres, they tend to put the 4 figure date code at the end of a string of other codes.

Still worth looking up that particular tyre models lifespan on Bridgestones website. Some need to be changed at 5 years. Super sticky performance track biased tyres can be 2 years.
There is little evidence to support this
