just looking for some new pads for my car s213 and ATE list 2 different creamic options for the rear

13.0470-2616.2 seem to be the correct ones but then it lists 13.0470-9004.2 with note for taxi

why would a taxi require specific pads ?

Because they go flat out everywhere. Unless you're behind one, then they do 10 mph under the limit.

There may be a different rear axle installed for the taxi version? Or it could be something as simple as a different parking brake arrangement for the taxi version - it's an interesting one to ponder...

I would imagine perhaps in certain markets the car is offered in "taxi spec", so less frills, less tech etc, so might have different calipers for cars that, for example had a manual handbrake instead of an electric one, or something like that.

I'm sure there are a few other Mercedes cars that come with Taxi/Hire/Police specific pads.

Not sure exactly why or what the differences are though. Perhaps they take account of envisioned fleet servicing or something?

Wonder if taxi spec have rock hard pads to reduce costs on fleet maintenance?

I'd say that's the most likely.
