Hi.
My car recently has had new rear pads fitted.
The new pads have no backing & i smeared the backs to reduce brake squiel.
But it now suffers from the rear pads moving about slightly & making a light knocking noise, until you apply the brakes when it stops.

My queston is on some new pads they is a adhesive pad on the back to stick the pads to the piston & caliper,is it possible to buy this seperatly & if so were from ?

The cars a tvr cerbera with AP brakes.

Thanks for any info

John.

i had this problem and it drove me mad when driving round town at lower speeds,i eventually tried the pads which i got from partco near me(for free to boot) and so far is a lot quieter.the pedal feels slightly spongey until the piston compresses the material against the pad metal backing plate and it settles down.

I think most people use a smear of silicon sealant on the back of the pads to 'stick' them to the pistons.

Ive tried this, but is does't seem to last to long before they come lose again.

If you opt for some Mintex Fast Road Pads they have the sticky backing. Have used these for both my MK1 MR2 and MGF and both sets for each car had the sticky backing and no worries in either case.
