Hi ,a good mate is having problems finding someone who can supply a Holden Australia colour .
It's Tourismo Blue 161L
Base and clear .
All our local contacts don't have the mix recipe for it .
Any clues ?

Rather than assuming someone may have the recipe, have you tried taking the car to somewhere who custom mixes paints to see if they can do it?

This is a race car ,originally built by TWR ,will need to take it on a trailer or remove a panel or the rear spoiler to get it matched ,just needs to be close as it will be fully painted .
The other side is much worse with big patches missing .

Could you not find a more common UK colour, obviously not the same but similar? I seem to remember the Mitsubishi Evo VI came in a blue that could be close.
Failing that, if you know the colour code, any bodyshop/paint factors should be able to ring their paint supplier and get a formula for your colour without any difficulty, might take a day or two at absolute most...

What TallPaul said or get an eyematch done.

If you were in the East Midlands area my first choice would be Supertune at Castle Donington & the second would be Sayers at Northampton.
I use both.
Ask them to formulate it as you can then order more as & when necessary.

He's trying to keep it as close to original as possible, it was one of limited numbers made in LHD for a middle east series ,all changes done are easily reversed as all the original.parts have been retained.
What doesn't show in the photo is how much the paint glows in daylight ,he is a classic restoration specialist by profession but none of his normal contacts can get near it .Even going direct to a couple of paint manufacturers has so far met with silence .
It's available online in Australia but getting it to the UK is full of woe as it's classed as HAZCHEM .

Sounds very odd- he obviously doesnt want to import the paint, he only wants a formula. Is there a unique tint thats not available in the UK- is it some sort of "special effect" paint?

If you can find a sprayshop/paint supplier with a colour spectrometer it will 'measure' the colour of the paint and give a colour code for the closest match

Just had a bit of a play & it comes up on the Nexa Aquabase Plus (waterbase) system I use as GM(Holden) in their online formula site as a base coat. You need to be a registered user to access the site.
It does say on there that it has been reformulated due to a tint becoming obsolete.

Formula shows the use of both a xirallic and a pearlescent as parts of it which might explain the glow you talk about.

I mentioned Supertune at Castle Donington earlier, I know they have several paint systems so it might be worth your friend giving them a call.

Thanks for the replies,I have found a local paint factors/suppliers that will spectrum it and match it .
As above ,they have mentioned some changes to the formula over time and would be happier to analyse the colour rather than supply off a spec sheet .

If imported it would be very expensive ,paint is classed as HAZCHEM and attracts all sorts of complicated rules for international transportation if done legally. The aussies love their rules and regulations !
