New car - paint blemish. What is it?
Discussion
Picked up a new Seat Leon at the weekend. Gave it a wash yesterday as it was still covered in loads of sticky residue from transport film etc. In scrutinising it, I noticed this issue around the fuel filler cap. It's very obvious to the naked eye and you can feel it when running hand across it. It's about 4-5 inches high in total and spreads from above the filler cap right down onto the cap itself. Tar remover etc doesn't shift it so I assume it's an actual paint defect.
Have emailed dealership to report it today but just curious as to what causes this and what the potential fix might entail.

A bird poo etching from the look of it. Try and hand polish it out if you can, with a light cutting polish. Or ask a local detailer to sort and may be get it fully coated to help protect it.Have emailed dealership to report it today but just curious as to what causes this and what the potential fix might entail.
Unfortunately the dealer will more than likely cause more issues.
I would highly recommend Chris at www.tdinternational.co.uk a fellow Gtechniq detailer

Cheers. So you think it has maybe sat for a few weeks with bird poo on and done a little damage? Unfortunately the dealer will more than likely cause more issues.

Will give polishing it a go. Have a DA but reluctant to break it out on this. So will give some hand polishing a whirls first. Many thanks.
