I have just bought two classic cars. One that was painted 2 years ago and has only covered 10 miles in that time, stored in a garage covered. The other was painted 6 months ago and has been cleaned a couple of times already. I want to wax them regularly to start building up protection and give them a good deep shine. Should I just wash them and then wax? They don't have an swirl marks so want to keep it that way, will the waxing help that too?

Waxing will not help with swirl marks.
I find it very hard to believe there are no swirl marks, even so a light refinement wouldn't hurt.

A ceramic coating will help prevent wash marring and general swirls. A wax much less so.
