Forgive me if it's been covered before but which is the best (reasonably priced) wax to use? I've had good results with the 'Meguires' 3 step but the wax doesn't really stay well being easily marked when drying. Tried microfibre, leathers etc. I've recently tried the Carnuba wax and I find that worse. Any ideas? ears
PS; the best results for fetching paint up I've tried is 3M, but can't seem to get it anywhere, appreciate any thoughts.

Collinite 476s or 915 are both good and last quite well.

I use Bilt Hamber finis and a spray QD after washing every two weeks or so.

Nothing cheap and easy to apply will last very long.

Does it have to be a wax? I have got good results on a metallic grey car using Wolfgang Paint Sealant 3.0 and it looks good and lasts well.

Collinite 476S or Finish Kare 1000P both offer very good durability/protection which is why you are applying in the first place, and a tin will last you a looooong time!

cheers

Another vote for Collanite, I use the d'elegance on the family mini and it's easy to apply with really good run off.

I use Victoria Concours wax (small tubs are all you need even though its pricey). I have heard good things about Fusso 99 too which is meant to last up to 12 months.

I would also strongly advise you use Gyeon Bathe+ car shampoo - its is very delicate on the wax and wont strip it plus it lays down its own layer of protection each time you use it (which lasts a couple of weeks). Fantastic stuff and would not use anything else.

Waxoyl.

It may not take a shine, but it sure does stop it rusting.

Auto finesse Spirit is a great wax for the price and works well on all colours giving great depth and gloss. Tends to last about 6-9 months in my experience. Collinite 476 is also great for the price and winter months.

I agree about Gyeon Bathe, it's witchcraft that stuff. I've been told by a detailer to combine it with Gyeon wet coat for even better results.

Its all in how you prepare the paint it needs to be properly decontaminated clean with no scratches and swirls in order to look its best. As for wax have you tried P21S? Its pretty cheap and gives a good wet look finish. Colinite is a synthetic wax, it will last a lot longer than a proper wax.

Also have a look at the Klasse twins, C2v3 and what has to be my favorate wet coat from Gyeon, these are sealants not waxes.

Its quite insane how good this stuff is, you literally wash it down after cleaning and the water rolls off like its had a a thousand quids worth of ceramic coating - I would use nothing else from now on to look after the car between waxes.

I found Bathe+ very "meh" at best.

I already have but a coating on my car (Gtechniq CSL).
I found bathe+ to not foam very well, never felt like there was a good level of lubrication and didn't clean that well.
I went back to Meguiars NXT shampoo or Gtech Gwash.

Foaming makes no difference to a shampoos ability to perform, suds are not required and its a myth the more you have the better it works.

I'm a big fan of Gtechniq Exo, easy to apply, two coats to ensure even coverage and then once every few weeks I throw a sponge at them.

Really simplifies the washing process and still mega beads after 2 years. cool

A quick video, my Touareg is nearly 3 years old and had Exo applied on day one by me, never had anything other than Exo put on it and a soapy sponge every now and then -

I full well know that.
But I like suds.

The reasons I don't like bathe+ are outlined in the rest of my post.

OK. It came across that you felt the lack of suds was a cause of the other points. Lots of people mistakenly think that suds contribute in some way to shampoo performance when in fact they do nothing of the sort and in fact make it harder to see the dirt and grime on the car.

NXT is a good cleaner, it though doesn't contain any protectants or sealants which is why i go with Bathe+ which cleans well enough for the frequency I use it (once a week) and has the added advantage of hydrophobic coating in the wash which repel the grime and water in addition to your normal wax laydown.

I'm just in the process of detailing the weekend mobile. I've ditched the wax and have gone for kamikaze Miyabi. With the paint prepped properly it should have a wet look like a wet thing, and have a marr resistant finish.
