We have just bought an ‘06 Peugeot 207 and I would like to give the cloth interior a really deep clean?

What’s the best way to do this? Shampoo and elbow grease? A wet vacuum style thing? Steam cleaner? Can the latter 2 be hired at a reasonable rate?

TIA,
James

Take the seats out and jetwash them, then vax & allow to dry out,

Maybe not if its airbag seats though

Spray the surface with Autoglym Interior Shampoo, then agitate with a nailbrush dipped in warm water. Get a wet vax and fill with clean warm water and vacuum seat surface until only clean water comes out - with no suds present. Either do this in warm weather or place a fan heater in the car with the windows slightly open to finally dry the seats.

I followed this regime on an annual basis on my old Volvo V40 with cloth seats. Car covered 370,000mls and the upholstery was still 'good as new'.

Thanks both.

Taking the seats out might be 1 step too far, i think they do have airbags in too.

With regards a "wet vax" I bought what i thought would do what you described today, but turned out only to be for vacuuming up wet spills. Are the "washing" wet vac's available for hire anywhere, or for not a lot of £ to buy?

Cheers,
James

Thanks that looks like a good shout for less than £30!

Would the carpet detergent be alright for use on car seats, or would i be better off using just water and something like autoglym shampoo as mentioned above?

I think they have a choice of detergents.

Autoglym shampoo is cheap and good for all the interior surfaces, so you can do the headlining and solid trim panels with the same product.

Ive always found the Autoglym interior shampoo very easy to use and good too. A bucket of warm water and a cloth is all you really need, does not take that long.

Best thing to do is wait.

It's cold and you don't want to be adding moisture to the interior.

I use AutoGlym Super Interior Cleaner (10-1) with a soft interior brush, MF's and a George.

I also use the same product for cleaning the interior plastics.
