You need a proper tar and glue remover like Gyeon Tar. This one is naturally (citrus) based, and melts tar and glue in seconds. Just spray it over a damp car (after a quick wash for example) and allow to dwell for a minute or two. Then gently buff it with a clean microfibre towel, and wash the car properly as usual. You can use it on a dry car too if the weather's not too warm. It's paint safe, but basically you don't want to leave it to dry on, or to 'scrub' with it - just spray, gentle buff, rinse. It melts all kinds - glue, tree sap, asphalt/tar, you name it.

MInd give it a good wax/seal after you use any removers on it as the paint will be raw.

Autoglym tar an glue remover will do the trick.
Spray plenty on, give it a few seconds and then wipe off with an old micro fibre.

Where from?

As above, Autoglym Tar and Glue or Autosmart Tardis is what you need.

White spirit worked on mine then wash and polish, if it's really stubborn heat and razer blade.

You need a glue remover and to follow the instructions. It may be worth going to your local wign shop and see if they will sell you some.

Normally you apply it and then leave it for a little while before removing it and then cleaning.

It may take several applications.

The stripes show up because dust/dirt stick to the glue

Good luck

I've used 'clutch & brake cleaner' on the stuff that's left after removing vinyls from caravans - was shown it by the techs at caravan dealer who I still do a fair bit of bodywork for.
So far it's always worked & has never affected the paint. As always, test on a small bit before going for it!

Sign companies use xylene based glue removers formulated specifically for getting acrylic adhesive from paint. It's not a clean or pleasant process but does work when combined with elbow grease.

Pop into your local sign company and ask to buy some of their supply. Or go on Wessex Chemical Supplies website and buy some direct from the manufacturer.

In that case I’d try a Dab of thinners in an inconspicuous area and if there’s no Ill effects I’d hit it with that!

Paper towel.

A tar remover (AutoGlym etc).

Apply to paper towel, leave paper towel soaked in tar remover for a few mins (do not let it dry out).

This should soften it up.

Remove paper towel and then start to temove the residue with an MF.

Depending on age of glue etc, this may take a few hits and time.

Follow with a decent wash to temove any left over tar remove.

Protect using wax etc
