Sponges?

Because of reasons, I am in possession of a valeting kit. It contains shampoo, glass cleaner, wheel cleaner, leather stuff, cockpit stuff and so on.

It also contians (as well as a microfibre and a shammy) three sponges. One's rock hard (in a bag) and the other two are really coarse. What are the sponges for?

Bottom left is for upholstery.

Thank you. Bottom right is the same coarse on top and very soft underneath.

ETA: I do have a wheel brush too, so it's not that.

Soak them in water. The top one looks like it will soften for bodywork. Bottom left looks like one for insect removal from glass.

Top right might soften and expand to be a softer one for paintwork.

Consign them to the bin.

Top one looks like a grout sponge, which were popular at one time over on DetailingWorld.

The rock hard one looks like a cellulose sponge which will soften up really nicely when its soaked but still keeps a useful mass.

I've found some details on BMW Australia's site.

The rock-hard one is indeed a 'normal' cleaning sponge.

The yellow one bottom left is, as somebody said earlier, for removing insects.

The black and yellow one is for applying Plastic Care Emulsion to exterior plastics.

I already know what the chammy and microfibre cloth are for.

I had those in my BMW kit. I would not use the coarse one, except for the kitchen.
I would not use it for glass even - better to use a ‘tar and insect’ spray, then a gentler cloth/sponge.
