How easy is it to fix these sill covers? Is it just a case of unbolt, glue, fill and paint and refit? Or would they be repaired insitu?

Difficult to repair in situ, they are usually easy enough to remove, each manufacturer has their own method but it is only some combination of a couple of screws and then its usually just trim clips.

Once removed it needs a plastic weld then it will be stronger than when it was produced.

You could DIY it and glue it, but with the flex and likelihood that it will hit a kerb etc in the future I would recommend a plastic weld rather than any other method.
