Mum has a 2015 Honda HRV. She mentioned that paint had started to peel off on the roof. I’ve just been over and it’s also peeling in some other areas too. Anybody had a similar experience? I’m going to ring Honda on Monday to see if it is still under warranty.

2 guesses,

Either the car has been painted poorly, or, looking at the moss growing around the screen, parked in a sheltered damp area and stuff from trees or birds has affected the paint. Mix of both ?

11 year old car still under warranty?

Paint is all original. I’ve successfully claimed on the BMW 12yr paint warranty on my (then) 10 year old 320. Had the rear arches done twice and new front wings all without any quibbling.

Are you absolutely sure that its original paint?

Must be a Friday car if so.

Definitely, she’s had it form new. I’ve heard about the issue with white paint peeling on Hyundai cars but after a bit of googling it seems that it’s not too uncommon on Hondas too?!

OK, not seen anything like that before in different places.

I've seen it on countless Hondas, they're notorious for having incredibly thin paint.

Just spoke to Honda, they haven't seen the car but said it should be covered under the paint warranty, but only with a full Honda service history. The last few years my mum got it serviced at an independent garage. Despite this, after an inspection they would put the claim in and see what Honda say.

I had the same on a Honda Jazz 2013 plate in my bodyshop last week.

Good luck with getting it sorted.

Ta, if Honda refuse to do it I think she’ll just want me to touch it up to in a hope to stop the peeling spreading.
