Overspray on brake calipers

The wheels on my new (to me) car were refurbished badly prior to sale, and there's some overspray. You can see silver paint on the calipers and stone shields:



The overspray would be several months old now. Would I have success in trying to remove this paint with thinners, or is there something else I should try?
