My car was hit in a car park yesterday, it looks like I have a fair bit of black Land Rover paint to remove, what’s the best way to go about cleaning it off?
I’ve got a small 3” buffer but never used it on a car or foam pads before.
I’ve probably got T cut in the garage or is there a better solution?

use meguirs ultimate compound with the polisher / pads you have take your time and go slowly

I find amazon reasonable on price but look around for prices

T cut is very harsh on paint almoast like using sandpaper

Try a clay bar first with some diluted washing up liquid- you might be pleasantly surprised how much comes off without any aggressive products. The T-Cut will likely handle whatever's left. Save the buffer for another day when you can practice on a less visible area first.

How deep does the damage look underneath the paint transfer - can you see any dents or scratches in your paint?

Mate, that will come off no problem.

Get some panel wipe or some alcohol wipe and a big bag of elbow grease. The majority of that will come off with panel wipe and an old rag.

Then get a coarse foam pad for your 3" buffer and absolutely any cheap cutting compound and whizz the rest off. Low speed, put some pressure on it and move it around. You can then use a thinner polishing compound if you want it to be shinier when the paint transfer is off.

I wouldn't use T-cut nowadays, its a very coarse compound, it would certainly work but you would then spend a load more time trying to remove the T-cut, any cheap modern day cutting compound is a better shout and less work for you. T-cut will work if that's what you've got, its just you will have to use the panel wipe to then remove the T-cut residue and likely then give it a polish.

Thanks guys appreciate the tips, I’m normally ok with the lefty loosy righty tighty bits but cleaning is beyond me.
It was a bit cold to spend to much time on it, but most of it’s off with some alcohol wipes just left a couple of scratches.

Did the other driver leave a note or anything?

Are those black marks paint, or is it grazed through to the plastic?

No, no note left.
I think the marks left are scratches through the paint work, I’ll have another go when it warms up a bit.

Seems to always be the way these days. Hopefully the damage was worse to their own car!
