Restoring Rubber

[Tesla]

The rubber seal on my drivers door is letting in a little water.

In the past I have soaked rubber in boiling hot water and believe it worked, is this the case?

Will it offer a long term solution, is there a better solution?

The car is only a Mk2 Mondeo.

Einszett sell a product called Gummipflege which is brilliant at keeping rubber seals in their prime, I believe this will go someway to restoring them.

I've got some and it really restores a brand new look and feel to the rubber seals, they feel really supple.

Unfortunately it's not in stock at the moment, but should be back soon.

Zymol make a product called "Seal" it soffens the rubber and causes it to "plump up" so helps seal, its around £25.00 but you dont need much and will last for ages. You can veiw it at www.zymol.com

Seconded Zymol Seal. Use it on all the cars and it really 'plumps' up the rubber and seems genuinely effective. Not cheap mind!

Einszett gummi, great product for door seals, easy to apply with its built in applicator restores colour and rejuvenates the suppleness to rubber door seals

Shinetsu silicon grease is superb - you can get it from any Honda dealer. Sometimes for sale on ebay too.
