Scrapes inside windscreen?
Discussion
Hi folks, hope you can help here...
I have an 04 Focus ST170 with heated windscreen. Previous owner seems to have made a mess when cleaning the inside of the screen and I'm not sure how to rectify. Let me explain...
Whenever the screen gets misted up, I see a swirly pattern of what can only be described as wide scrapes. Degreasing doesn't seem to help, they always come back, so I'm guessing something abrasive has been used to wipe the inside of the screen at some point. I'm pretty sure the outside of the screen is Ok.
I hate glare when driving at night so as you can imagine it drives me nuts when as soon as the screen gets in the slightest misty inside, this distracting smeary mess appears. Is there some kind of polish that might clean this up? I think the heating elements are embedded in the glass so they shouldn't be a problem, right? I can post photos if it'll help?
While we're on the topic, any other tips for getting a really good, glare free-screen? (preferably without defrauding my insurance company
) I already gave the glass a good clean and put RainX on the exterior.
Thanks in advance!

I am not a fan or rain X on the windscreen....its ok on mirrors and side windows however. Best glass cleaners besides vinegar and newspaper are...Stonors Invisible Glass, Einszett Glass Polish (my preferred option), Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner and Autoglym Car Glass Polish (apply the cream thinly with a foam applicator).
Hey thanks fella -
I needed some leather cleaner as well, so I ordered some Einszett glass polish at the same time - only a few quid! I'll let you know how I get on.
Never tried RainX before, but it looks like I'll have an opportunity to find out just how well it does work with the weather as it is!
Best
