Might sound a bit odd this one, but basically I've picked up a Volvo 740 Estate as a runaround for very little money. Seeing as it will be used for some tramp drifting, then the rat look will be the one to go for (i.e the one that involves spending as little as possible.) With something as flat and untextured as matt black, could you get away with using spray cans or is it best just to buy a big tin and roller it on? Obviously, doesn't matter if it looks good, just that it's cheap and not too time consuming

Wouldn't the cheapest option just be to leave it as it is?

My m8 once had his bonnet sprayed with blackboard paint. But it did actually look quite good boxedin (He was a bit of a chav).

Would need thinning down quite a bit before application.

New single stage matt black coming soon from Alsa Corp, but as it's not water based, you may find it hard to get someone who can do it for you.

if you were to do it properly, it'd be powder coat all the way, that way she wouldnt scratch as easy as your going to get by tinning it. I think your in a gr8 place to experiment, lets face it, you can always buff it back off! I've just repainted the rear of our old run around (metallic purple vectra) after a bit of a bump involving a wall (more specifically, the bf backed it into my house), its had 3 coats with the tin and then 1 coat of laquar, its got a matt finish and its protected. be careful in this weather tho..too cold and the paints going to go patchy...tho if your going rat..you could try doing it in the rain for a proper bodge look!

Let us know wot you do and what the results are...i'd be really intrested to see what our old vicky vectra would look like with the same finish (would love to go for a 'punisher' style!)
