35 year old car with 35 years of dust under the bonnet.
Looking at the inner wings and bulkhead.
It's not oily or anything as far as I can tell, just general dust.
Don't want to pressure wash or even turn a hose on it in case I affect electrics, what do you all suggest?
I've the engine to look at after the paintwork, that's predominantly aluminium with 35 years of ali white powder corrosion..
Thanks for any bright ideas, not looking for concourse just clean.

Unless you're pointing a pressure washer directly at electrical connections, or your electrics are particularly fragile, I'd not worry about a pressure washer used sensibly in the engine bay. In any case, even if it affects something it will dry out.

Notwithstanding the annoying American accent, and no doubt the real aficionados would find fault…

But at the level of a cheap clean up as opposed to concourse, I’ve found the steps here useful to follow.

A quick detailer and a rag would do but water is far easier.
Low pressure hose or watering can if your worried just take care and you will be fine.

Some diluted TFR, and scrub with brushes.

Then low pressure hose to rinse it off.

Do small areas at a time if you want to limit where the water goes.

I do love a good engine bay clean.

Just pressure washed my engine bay, thoroughly, turned the key within about 30 secs of finishing to move the truck, and it started straight away, dripping wet. Mind you I cheated - I have a Euro 3 diesel.
