Some absolute gimp has keyed my car all the way down the passenger side, from just above the front wheel to the rear quarter.

You can feel it with your nail, but it looks like it has only gone through the lacquer rather than down to metal.

Anything i can do to minimise its visibility? some sort of polish or something?

Try polishing it, but if you can feel it with your nail, chances are it's too far gone. Depending on the car you could get a detailer to have a look at it. Our neighbour had her car keyed on every single panel, effectively writing the car off, and tried various things but nothing has worked and if anything it looks worse. She did actually put butterfly stickers along some of them too laugh

Worth having a chat with a detailer, they may be able to wet sand the majority of it out, together with machine polishing.

I’m not sure how effective this method is but I’ve seen (on FB) detailers paint the scratch then wet sand/polish it back. End result seems to look seamless??

I’ve repaired scratches invisibly where it’s gone trough the clear coat, but base coat (the colour) is intact. A small paint brush, a scratch repair kit (you only want the laquer), and lots of patience is required. When it’s dry, wet sand along the scratch area to blend it in, then T-Cut and polish. I’m not sure if what to do the whole length of the car though. If f you’re not confident, take it to a body shop.

What possesses someone to scrape down the side of a stranger’s car?
There really is some nasty morons in this country now.

OP, are you sure you’ve not just driven past a bush? If it’s been keyed, it’ll look deliberate and go down to the metal in places. T-Cut and polish can deal with a lot.

As in my post above, a neighbour had every single panel keyed, by her sister as it turned out. I believe infidelities were involved.
My mother and step father had paint stripper poured over their car in a case of mistaken identity. It wrote the car off.

Neighbour didn't claim off insurance in the end, as a respray was more than the value of the car. Mum and step dad claimed.

what colour car? metallic or solid paint?

as already posted can potentially be touched in, then sanded flat and cut / polished back up.... but that will work better with flat colours

Happened to me about 20 years ago when I lived with my ex. Heard a noise outside, looked out to see a teenage girl stood in the drive kicking the hell out of one of the headlamp units on my car. Went outside to confront her and she just sauntered off while giving me a mouthful about how there was nothing I could do and the police wouldn't be bothered... which they weren't. Woke up the next morning to find the windscreen had been smashed overnight. Police still not bothered.

Vandals are worthless bags of biological waste who I'd nominate to be fourth in line after rapists, murderers and paedophiles if the death penalty was ever brought back.
