Do not fall into the Karcher trap! I know so many people who buy them and get no more than 2 years out of them before their internals fail and non replaceable parts too!

I have a nilfisk core 125, absolute base of their range but with the powerful nozzle attachment it'll still cut holes in render (as I found out to my detriment!) But with the standard nozzle attachment it's great on my cars and I have a brass snow foam lance that gives good coverage. I've had mine around 5 years now.

They go up to 200 bar on some models but that'd just take the paint off!

I bought an AVA P60 yesterday

Very impressive bit of kit if a bit on the heavy side but certainly performed well on first use washing my car. Feels built to last and well designed

Nilfisk base unit.

+ any attachments that fit. Cheap ones may weap a bit but until you know exactly what your preference is, no point paying for the good stuff.

Another vote for Nilfix.

I’ve had one of the basic models for 5 years. It’s done lots of outside cleaning jobs, often running pretty much non stop for 6-7 hours. Plenty powerful enough for removing 5+ yeas of moss and mould buildup off terracotta tiles.

My experience exactly...

Like a lemming over a 5 year period bought 3No Karchers, each time a more expensive version in the hope that would mean better quality. Each one periodically and without warning just started leaking profusely from the internals.

Finally had enough and bothered to do some research (read reviews), and bought a Nilfisk Core 140. Only had a couple of months but better in every conceivable way. Retractable hose worth it for that alone. Between the 2 nozzles (rough/gentle) that came with it, car cleaning, paving slab and driveway cleaning all handled with aplomb.

Highly recommended!

I use Direct Hoses and haven’t had any issues whatsoever despite using it commercially so its gets a daily battering.

Our original baby Karcher is now 18 years old and just starting to leak a bit. I'm sure a new set of o-rings will sort it. I know plenty of other people who own Karchers and swear by them.

But if you're going to do power washing, do it properly. We bought one of these last year. Absolutely incredible on block paving but i haven't had the nerve to use it on the car yet!

This. I've had mine for almost 18 months, it's an excellent product, and the long hose is a game-changer.

Bosch Home and Garden High Pressure Washer EasyAquatak 120
Still similar price @ £109 delivered, much better made than previous Karchers I've owned (never again).

We have an old K2 (compact?) that has lasted well, but I think it has metal internals, unlike the newer models with plastic pumps.

A third vote for the AVA. Comfortingly heavy and as said, the long hose and hose reel is a real nice touch.

My first one was a Karcher but that leaked from the pump so I bought a bigger Karcher (K4.99) but that doesn't work anymore.
Then I bought a Titan 2 from Screwfix but that will blast for 10-20 seconds, then switch off.

If I can get the car washed for £20 at Tesco I need a machine that will outlast having someone else do it for me.

I've had loads of Bosch stuff in my time, drills, grinders etc so wondered what they were like?

Thanks for replies, Paul G

Change the oil every now and again and for obvious reasons keep it away from frost as you would any water equipment, you'll never buy another pressure washer.

I have more or less decided on the Nilfisk 160, around £304.99
so the timing couldn't be better.

My K4 is 8 or 9 years old now. Used every couple of weeks and then literally all day every other year when the drive and patio gets a good going over.

I must have got lucky, it hasn't missed a beat.

Nilfisk all the way, mine is 14 years old and get hammered usually doing 2-3 cars a month sometimes more, I’d say to buy a longer hose for it so you’re not lugging the unit around a car
