Do any Yorkshire (or other northern) based classic car owners fancy a run out some time before the weather gets (even) worse? Perhaps the Dales, Moors, Lake District...

I had a great run out with C3ber (TVR Cerbera) and Moribund (Smart Roadster) a few weeks ago but one always has the feeling that you're holding the quicker cars up. Plus, 3 hours driving the Citroen on the ragged bloody edge left me feeling like I'd just crawled out of a trench in the Somme.

So, anyone up for it? I'm not one who has a specific idea about what a 'classic' is but I'd suggest anything pre 1980 (or particularly slow!) would be about right.

Times/dates/locations tbc if there are a few people interested.

I'd be up for it Ben, prefer a weekday evening though as it's not likely to be something I can tempt Mrs Mitch out on.

Well we have the genesis of something here, any more for any more?

One week day evening is fine with me, probably best over the next couple of weeks while the weather is still clement(ish).

Anyone have a specific day in mind?

One Citroen, one Alfa and a Motorbike, strange mix... need a few more I think though, anybody else up for it, where would you fancy, Dales perhaps?, I'd suggest Otley - Washburn Valley - Padside - Pateley Bridge sort of region it's reasonably close to at least two of us....

You don't have an orangey Alfa do you? Saw one from a distance in Skipton today, looked like a 1750/Junior/Sprint but couldn't be sure which...

Anyway, yes, route sounds terrific.

Err, I've just devised a route around the Washburn / Nidderdale area for the Alfa Romeo Owners Club which with a little modification could be suitable for you all, if you're interested?!

Covers c.80 miles and has a variety of roads, some narrow / twisty (and one or two with a few potholes to drive round!), some wide open to get your average speed back up with...

Just a thought....

That sounds interesting. I guess looking at those interested that a Skipton/Ilkley start/finish works best but it could incorporate your run (or at least some of it)...

Well I was thinking of an Otley start tbh, picking up on what Mitch wrote, but of course you could always start wherever you like! The actual route I've drawn up starts / finishes in Pateley Bridge - I was just going to divide it up and have you starting somewhere further south (ie near Pool / Otley).

Let me know if you want the route - or I can give you a rough idea here where it goes and you can sort out the details yourselves - or of course you can just sort it all out from scratch!

But the offer's there if you want it...

I think Otley would work well too - thanks. Would be great to see the route. You're going to join us I hope...?

Well I might - depends on the evening chosen, think I have at least one meeting that week...

And I am currently car-less (don't go there, bit sensitive at the moment!), but have had several old Alfas in the past - so am unsure as to a steed for the evening, but could probably make my way over that way in the firms car....and park somewhere discrete....

You can probably guess where I live...?!

James. You can come in the Alfa if you like, I will drop you my email address on the AROC PM system.

Ben do you want me to set up a route, using part or all of James's, I'm thinking we might start in or near Otley head up around the Washburn valley twisty stuff, then on to the open roads towards Pateley and back maybe to the Sun Inn near Fewston.

No sorry I've got to deliver somebody somewhere on Sunday... Dad's Taxi duties!

Any day apart from Sunday next week as far as I'm aware at this stage, well apart from Saturday I'm charging around the Lanes on a different mission then smile
