Title should say "Patinated cars spotted which have certainly never had a boiled sweet restoration".

As mentioned in the Pictures of your classics in action thread.

Lets see some cars that are in use that haven't been restored to a point where all of the history has been stripped away.

I'll start with the trials Austin 7 saloon we use regularly, (currently taxed and insured as well!)

I think the correct term is "nicely run in". cool

Isn't the spare just an anti-theft feature? biggrin

There is always a charm about this kind of stuff.

I owned something similar years ago, but nowhere near as well executed ; mine had had some parts of 'restoration' done over the years in some areas. Yes the paintwork was blistered in places and the carpets lost their colour but I did like that bit of patina ; you weren't scared to drive the car! A friend of mine however owns this:

The Porsche has an interesting backstory to why it became like that, and the patina extends to more in places (read bodgery of filler present and still remaining)!

With another owning this:

Although not all is as it seems.

The car has been a daily driver for his wife since the 90s I believe, although the mileage recently has decreased. I think the bloke was telling me it's not been off the road for more than a couple of weeks tops with the exception of the engine conversion.

I was at the VSCC Cumbria Trials a week or so ago.
This lot were among many, climbing up to 1500 feet ABOVE Honister Pass, up the slate rubble track to Drumhead.

Regulations state that you have to carry a spare wheel. Says nothing about having a tyre on it smile

If it has a tyre on it's in danger of dragging on the ground.

Since I seem to be responsible for this, here is the one I posted on t'other thread.

And on the theme of Austin 7s here is one at the annual Boxing Day show in Romsey last year.

Here's my Jeep. Difficult to show its patina on photo, but its no show queen. No rot and a great finish which looks worn but tidy, just how I like it. IMO, concourse jeeps are just soooooooooo wrong.
I do like a certain amount of patina on old cars, but then again I like immaculate ones as well, albeit with some imperfections.
Concourse cars IMO are a bit pointless, surely you'd be apprehensive about using them often??

And after some mud plugging over Salisbury plain smile
