Saw this parked up earlier. Any idea what it is?

Given it's clearly been extensively 'kustomised' it will be more a case of working out what it was, rather than is....??

I'd say its 30's era, but I don't think it's American though.......?

The wheel caps (centre domes) remind me of old Citroens. Could it be a madly customised Traction Avant?

Looks like a BMW 328 might be in there somewhere, in the back of my mind too is the thought that wasn't Archie Fraser Nash involved in importing them after the war but this may be something else entirely under the skin!

We're going to need a whole new forum area for "Cars we can't identify"

The grille is in the style of the late 1930s Peugeot 402, with the headlamps hidden behind, but the rest of the vehicle is very different from anything built at Sochaux.

It is a 1939 Peugeot 202 pick up and yes, it's an Andy Saunders creation known as 'Metropolis'.

I follow Andy on FB, I thought this was a really nice piece of work.

(That’s a nice part of the world BTW - handy for the park, handy for the seaside, and just generally a nicer part of town. My auntie lived 100 yards from there.)

Good work. Although standards do seem to be slipping as that took over two hours to identify. hehe

Did you identify that location from half a house or are there tags embedded in the photo?

Half a house and the bend in the road. No tags.
Spent a huge amount of time around there as a kid. Quickest way to town from my Nan’s place up near the main road was along that road, down the steep steps (just by that corner we’re looking at) to the park, along between the park and the railway, into town past the swimming pool. In those days the bit at the other end of the park was derelict ex-gasworks. Drove through last month and scarcely recognised it.

Just as an aside my Dad was a mate of Andy’s Dad and was often suggesting I go along to look at what Andy was up to, but I was quite reclusive and only really interested in aircraft in those days, so passed on the offer. Regret that now.

Are you this guy?

I remember being able to see the gasworks from in the swimming pool. thumbup It's certainly changed a lot since then.

biggrin

Maybe I am. Even I was surprised I recognised it on so little evidence. I used to love looking across the lake at the gasworks all lit up, with its little flame burning.

I really like that. Massively impractical, borderline illegal and totally different.

What's borderline illegal about it?
