Peugeot 304 cabriolet
Discussion
I am in the market for a Peugeot 304 Cabriolet this year.
Had one back in the 1980's and after owning many faster cars i.e. 911's, I am ready for a sedate ride in a French convertible again now I am retired.
Would appreciate pointers to decent specimens that have not been advertised to death on CarsandClassics.
I am North West UK based if that helps but should not be a issue for the right car.
Many thanks.

Lovely old Peugeot, if you can find a nice one? Not many around now, especially in the UK.
You will find it very hard to find a RHD one, only 836 where made for the UK market. I think you will have to travel to Europe and settle for a LHD one?
https://www.theparking-cars.co.uk/used-cars/peugeo... Not sure how old the web page is??
66 cabriolets advertised here only 2 are RHD.
When checking out a 304 the main thing to consider is RUST. It would be advisable to only consider one that has had a full body resto`.
If the engine sounds like a bag of nails from the top end. The rocker arms and camshaft lobes are worn and will need replacing.. Adjusting the tappets will not quiet it down. Its an all aluminium engine, so can suffer with corrosion, particularly the cylinder head face causing head gasket failure.
Other parts could be well over 50 years old, so the car needs a very close inspection.
Body and trim parts are like hens teeth. Most mechanical parts can be found, mainly in Europe. Of course the main part of a cabriolet is the hood. This can be repaired or replaced by a specialist. (expensive)
Early models had the XL3 1288cc engine, later models the XL5 1290cc engine. Both these had a "S" version with a twin choke carb` and more power.
The best 304 Cabriolet is the XL5S with leather interior.
God luck with your search. Please get back to us if you need more info`
