Good Afternoon Everyone,
Having failed to see any of these vehicles around for years I was wondering how many could still be on the Road in the UK, I recently acquired one after a lot of searching with only a four week MOT I was delighted when it passed with no work required, tbh I felt it would, can I also ask the best place to aquire parts these days?, thanks, Matt.

Hi Matt, and welcome on board!
Excellent choice of car, we are all looking forward to seeing the photos you will be posting soon...
For one of my brother's old Volvos we used a firm called Brookhouse. They had everything in stock we needed for an 850, but they do 200s and 700s as well.

I pass this regularly and there's always an enormous amount of old Volvos being broken:

On the A1 northbound, near the Black Cat roundabout (or at least where the Black Cat used to be). I have no idea of their reputation but the site looks huge.

I think you'll need to be quick visiting them. I think the owner is retiring and the site is targeted for redevelopment.
The reviews if you Google it suggest that's been the case for a few years now. Was certainly still there on Saturday when I went past. I'll have another look this weekend.Yes it's still there, coincidentally I also drove past on Saturday. I recall reading an article in Autocar about them. I'm not sure whether it was there or in a local paper article I got the impression the owner was retiring. The local paper certainly carried an article about the site being earmarked for development.
Hi Matt.
940s are great.
I've has a 740, 5x 940, 1x 960
FFS Don't let anyone (wife) whinge on about not wanting to drive one anymore and wanting a V70!!
I miss my last 940 daily
"Brookhouse" are great but didn't realise they covered "newer" models. I've spent quite a lot with them on my 1800ES.
"Autodoc" are good and "Parts for Volvos"
My last 940 (945 if you want a correct designation) was the ubiquitous 4 cylinder red block with LPT. To this I added a manual boost control (MBC) and gauge obviously. You can safely go up to about 10 or 12lb. (The HPT was 7lb, the LPT 4lb as standard)
If you can find the parts, a strut brace was manufactured by a fellow enthusiast as well as a set up for doubling up the rear ARB. Front ARB can be swopped for a one from a 960 (there are two, go for the larger dia) and an underneath chassis brace helps too. At the rear HD springs and Bilstein B4s.
Loads of wheels available including a lot of Volvo originals. Volvo Auriga suit the car but if you've got money, Galaxys. Expect to pay £1k for a good condition set, £600 for a everyday useable set.

Evening,
Thanks for sharing, I've has 2 740s, 2 S40s, an S70, I now have a S90, and I went and bought the 940 ( must be mad..), I bought in from Mathewsons the online auction house a few months ago, I've not had to do any work mechanically on it as it solid and required no work at all, put I through its MOT without touching a thing, passed no problem.., but what I have done firstly for family was a few videos on it ( about 4 plus a short) from the minute I took it off the transporter at home, my family who saw them and told me for posterity I should put them on YouTube which I've done if anyone wants a look see, I used to be a panel beater and did some spraying at one time so I've did a few things to the bodywork to tidy it up a bit during the summer, ( @matthendry3834) I'll post pictures when I can but in the meantime thanks for the welcome and advice from everyone, think I'll be keeping it for awhile, Matt.
