Hello,

Some photos I thought that you might like from the London to Brighton Vintage Car Run 2021. The original "Classics".

Work is manic, has been manic for the last few months so I am only just getting to post these.

These were a bit different to my usual car photos as I was nearer to the cars than I am used too and they were going slower than my normal subjects. I live near a track and practice now and again when a club is having a track day. This took a bit of re-calibrating. Not having done any car photos for a while due to the covid situation as well didn't help, it took a few shots to get into the groove.

What makes the photos for me is the cheerfulness and engagement of the participants in the cars.

For the record it is the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, not Vintage.
The cars must have been made in 1904 or earlier.

Five, and quite probably six, of those cars have 'BS' registrations. I understand that BS is an old Orkney number, so have they all been re-registered with DVLA at some stage?

Great photos.

Great photos.
Age-related registrations usually given to imported old cars.

This event is coming up soon and my daughter would really like to attend...

Can anyone recommend any good vantage points?

Is it best to be at start or finish, or are there some good spots along the route?

Thanks!

I suspect parking would be a nightmare at the start or the finish!

When I lived in Sutton I went to watch it a few times on the A23 between Redhill and Gatwick, but it was a bit flat. Somewhere with a bit of a hill might be more entertaining.

My recommendation would be to head to Staplefield - plenty of space to park and it gives great views as the cars pass by

I live just off the A23 in Coulsdon, it’s quite a good vantage point.
The other is seeing cars climb up the hill that meets the junction of the A23 and M23 at Pease pottage. It’s a long climb!

Not the best weather for the 2022 running - we made it all the way to Ansty before a gearbox bearing cried enough - close but no medal

I followed a few cars from Staplefield to Cuckfield before I turned off, so just before Ansty.
Impressive sight, especially as the weather was really poor - hats off to all.
