Brown must be the least common colour for a classic indeed it is rare to see brown modern cars.

My Dad was a Rover man, a couple of P5's followed by three P6's, the last of which was a V8, and later an SD1. One of his P6's was brown, same as this pic.

It got me thinking about what other cars were available in brown, I think BL had the option for the Mini and the Princess but I'm struggling to remember others. Brown classic car owners must be a pretty exclusive group.

Had a Russett Brown MGB GT with a 3.9 Rover V8 conversion back in the early '90s. Sounded nice, but not really a looker.

Loads. Brown was a popular colour, especially metallics. It was seen as a classy colour.

Cortina Mk III and the Mk IV was very popular with a light vinyl roof. Capris and Granada's too.
Renault 25 Monaco. I think all the top level Monacos were brown but Renault liked brown.
Lotus used to do some nice metallic browns in the Plus 2S/130 and wedge Elites.

Porsche 911s, Rollers, TR7, Dolly Sprint, Citroen SM, Toyotas.

There were lighter variations such as sable or mink.

This Cortina combination was immensely popular

I had a russet brown Spitfire. The brown hid the rust quite well.

I had the option of brown on my 2014 XC60, back in the day.
Or “DS Brown”, as I called it - dog st brown!
I can see why it is not in favour these days, although some of those classics look okay.

Yep, various shades of brown was a very popular colour in the 70's, with pretty much most mass makers of the day offering a brown or multiple shades of brown in their colour palette's from Mini's to.....

My dad had a brown TR7 coupe. My grandad had a brown Vauxhall Viva. To be fair I think everybody’s grandad had a brown Viva at that time.

Roman Bronze metallic, so much nicer than most browns offered by the competition.

I find myself really liking some of those cars in Brown. Seems to suit some of them very much.

I remember seeing this at the NEC Classic Car Show, on the Meguiars' stand, possibly.

Steve McQueen's car! A Ferrari! But it's brown...

He liked brown.
His Mini Cooper S that he bought, he had painted a similar shade met brown as well.

The launch Citroen SM was brown, IIRC and the "re-invention" sported the same hue.

Looks like you could have a few shades of brown as an option on that car smile
