I always find these a pain with having to contact the owners club and get them to agree to a value based on a few photos.

A particular car of mine is of truly concours nut and bolt resto condition but the owners club were a bit sniffy to value it higher than a typical excellent example last time.

Anyone had any experience with independent valuers etc.

I have the same issue, I don't attend model specific shows and the owners club model registrar for mine is 230 miles away so not viable to do a 460 mile round trip. I've had them done by a local independent place (LTD and VAT reg) that has lots of history with restorations, they charge a small amount. Never had a problem with that being ok for various agreed value policies, touch wood never claimed though.

I can submit a valuation using recorded video from the model registrar but it only covers market value in "used" condition.

I’ve not had to obtain club valuations for some years. Maybe look at alternative insurance companies; all I have to do is fill in an online form and upload some photos at renewals. I’ve not had any trouble maintaining fairly generous agreed valuations with them. Of course, what I’ve NOT done is have to test the response of the insurance company with a total loss claim.

Over a certain value, insurers insist on a 'proper' valuation unfortunately.

You could also look at a Marque specialist to provide a valuation, thats what I do and Footman James accept it without an issue.
