Better half has bought an early 80's Dandy folding camper and I'd love to tow it with my 1973 P5B. None of the major suppliers can supply a towbar for the Rover. Are there any classic towbar suppliers close to the NW? Other than cooling issues (I've got a Kenlowe fan) any drawbacks?

I needed one for the P6 estate, I found a saloon one and modified it.

Its just steel box and angle stuck together with an arc welder.

I think Witter used to do them for the P5, though I doubt they'd still list it.

David Green, a P5 parts supplier, might have a used one, or know a source.

Somebody fitted a separate transmission cooler from a MKIII P5 3-Litre (same BW box) to a P5B, but whether it's necessary I don't know. However, it did negate the risk of atf/coolant mixing if the factory 'in rad' set up failed, but that's not specifically related to towing.

One of the best was TOWSURE, they've been going for years.

Somewhere hidden amongst my garage stuff is a new unused Towsure complete kit for a Rover Montego - I'd bought it to fit to an MG Montego Turbo !!
But didn't - I'd bought it from a guy in Swindon in 1998, it was still boxed and brand new, who'd also never fitted it.

As someone above said, easily modded to fit different vehicle I would have thought.

edit
just checked Towsure and yes, they're still going!
