What nice Powerful Classic ? [Protouring]
Discussion
Hi everyone !
First I apologise for the mistakes I may make in my writing.
I'm posting from France ...
So I hope this question has not been treated yet:
I am searching for a cool modified classic model.
Actually, I saw that engine swaping is quite frequent for some cars here in the UK.
Here are some good examples :

>A nice Capri Zetec
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1526603.htm
> Capri with a 3.9 rover v8
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1566095.htm
> Opel Manta Turbo
...
So as you know better than me what is "usual" in UK , could you help me with choosing a car under 4000 £ , under 80's would be nice also.
Thank you for your answers !

Well, the best engine for the cheapest price has to be the XJS:

5.3 V12 and you can get pre-1980's ones.
As for modified classic cars, the most common would probably be the Triumph Stag. The engine that came with it was unreliable, so a lot of people changed them out for the Rover V8 (very reliable, easily tuned) or a wide range of other Ford/Triumph engines.

Reliant Scimitar SE5a with a Rover v8.
The reliants aren't seen too often so they're pretty special, but you can pick a good one up for £1500. The Ford Essex V6 they come with it not only less powerful than the V8, but weighs more too.
I'd guess you'd need to buy one over here though and it'll be RHD.
