Hi all, welcome back after the festive break. Hope you had a good one, and a good new year to you all.

For a while now I have been fed up with work. I am a college lecturer, teaching IT, and I am looking to get out of it, and work for myself.

I have had many thoughts on what I can change to. Notg bothered what, not even bothered about using my IT skills. Would retrain if required.

Have thought about electricians, plumber and various other ideas like car/van hire in Durham, have spotted a good location for a card shop, literally anything.

Has anyone else done this, had a complete career change or any other ideas as to interesting ideas?

Kind regards folks
Jonathan

Is there any scope for you lecturing on the "professional" circuit rather than with college students? That is, lecturing as part of technical updates for accountants, solicitors, architects and people like that.

I'd also be interested in replies to this thread, working in IT and sitting in front of a computer all day is driving me crazy.

If anyone has enough DIY skills to fit a door to a kitchen unit, and a source of inexpensive advertising in their own area, they might like to contact me as I think I might have a way they could try experimenting with starting their own business without leaving the day job, for a while at least anyway.

Favours? What do you mean? Delivering messages, sewing on buttons - that kind of thing?
