Another leading question I know... but I'm convinced that PH holds the world's entire knowledge.

Right - I'm completely ripping out my bathroom and starting again from scratch. 1988 Whisper Grey has to go.

Trouble is, I've spent weeks collecting a pile of brochures two feet high and I still haven't found a bath I like as much as the existing one (in terms of shape and size). Except that it's grey, and I want it white.

Are there any places that can give it a 're-spray', as it were, and make it look like a new white one?

Cheers all

I belive there are some products on the market that allow you to paint the bath a new colour.

I know it can definately be done for an old cast iron bath and IIRC there was one a diy programme and they painted a plastic bath a bright white.

Yes, but, I believe, only cast iron ones.

Claire, you are a genius: I'll call them tomorrow. I'm not sure that a roller is going to give a perfect gloss finish, but maybe the stuff flows a bit.

Brilliant

I knew all that time spent in the loo with a hand held tv when I was ill would come in useful one day.

Short answer NO ! Who made your whisper Grey bath ?
You should be able to get the same bath in white. There are 20 times the number of bath designs now than c1988. I know a lot about bathrooms

Doesn't say. The WC says 'Johnson Brothers Trent Ware' but that might not account for the bath. I'd be surprised if a 1988 design was still current. Trust me, I've looked everywhere, but this is the most sensible/best design. I was pretty sure something would jump up and say 'buy me', but for each new bath that takes my fancy, there's something I don't like about it as well.

Ho hum!

Bath Shield - experts in all things bath like (apparently they sorted out 'er majesty's bath, as it was chaffing her backside (so the story goes))

Worth calling them for advice if nothing else...

My grandparents had their bath "resprayed" with a special paint and laquer combo thing. They got it done professionally and looks very good. I can get the details if you want. Only down side is they're in Guernsey but it may have been done by a national organisation though not sure.

I had a bath resprayed about 10 years ago. Had mine sprayed in situ saves the job of getting it down the stairs.Didn't cost the earth either. The paint job is now looking poor, but so is the rest of the bathroom so time to redecorate.

You can get "hard" foam rollers which give a much better finish on smooth surfaces like tiles - ought to do the trick on a tub?

I have used Tubby on a cast iron bath. It does give a good finish, but the preparation needs to be thorough. You then need to take care with the application, to ensure no runs.

I would guess that you have a steel bath with grey enamel, which you should be able to use Tubby on, or find a spray shop that will do enamel.

there are plenty of national and local organisations that will do it, it works really well - the enamel comes up very nicely. cost circa £150 IIRC

I have a cast iron bath where the enamel is chipped discoloured. Are there any firms which will come and re-enamel it for me in situ ?.
