I'm not talking about an inspection lamp or a Maglite here, I was wondering if you can get table lamps that run on batteries (I can't be arsed to explain why, but its genuine)? I've tried some internet searches but nothing has turned up.

I have one from Costco that was used extensively at PistonFest, made by GE, I think. Not sure I would want it in my lounge, but ideal for outdoor use.

I've got a solar power one which you can use batteries.

It's a bit like this, but it's free standing as well.

That's the problem. It needs to be half decent.....

I would've thouht it possible to take the mechanism out of the one I bought and put it into a standard lamp without much trouble..

It only cost ~£10 so nothing lost if it doesn't work.

Look at camping orientated sites I would guess..? I cant imagine you being able to find anything particularly decorative though if thats what you are after.

Good point, hadn't thought about that. Maybe I should've said "A lamp that doesn't need plugging into the mains supply..."

Our house is a bit "minimalist" for something as fussy as that lamp though, I think....

Just the first piccy I came across

The shade is optional, and I beleive you can get them more angular (rather than the victorian look)
