I've just cracked open a nice bottle of (proper, Dutch-import) Grolsch. It's gorgeous, I haven't had the proper stuff for ages. Slight taste of honey that you don't get from the cans.

I like continental lagers, I'll try the odd ale from time to time (I'm not a 'real ale CAMRA-type' though), and in the style of Hannibal Lecter, I like a nice Chianti, either Guicciardini Strozzi or Montelonti if you can get hold of them (difficult to find outside Italy), but 'supermarket' chianti (or anything that comes in the 'wrong shaped' bottle) is not so good.

So, this is the Pie & Piston, what would be your order? (can't believe we haven't had this thread down the P&P before)

Tiger Lager is great stuff. I drank lots while in Malaysia, mainly because it was bloody cheap, but also because it actually tastes great.

Can we have this thread again then please? I missed the first one.

I love real ale, bitters etc. Just discovered them- you seem to get funny looks when a woman orders a pint of bitter
Gin and tonic with ice and slice
Red wine of course
and
Baileys with ice

Thank you,

who bought that round?

Either decent Flemish/Belgian/French ale along lines of Trappiste Rochefort or Trois Monts/Chimay
Or, a good British Ale like McEwans Special or Timothy Taylor's Landlord.
Or a nice Islay malt, Bunnahabhain or Ardbeg. Doesn't matter about cask strengths or how long it's been aged for me, the basic stuff is fine.
I am also partial to Danish madmans Special Brew

The Long Island Iced Tea has always been a favourite of mine.

Failing that, a glass of house red will suffice.

Must be honest and say that I will drink most types of tipple, but can be a bit fussy over which ones of each type I will touch.

Good continental lagers, actually brewed on the continent I like, German beers such as the Dortmunder series are very good, and most Belgian and Dutch beers. (Have a thing for Hoergarten atm)

Not CAMRA either but a good pint of flat Bass goes down a treat but also like the taste of Tanglefoot, spitfire, Reverend James, Flowers IPA (Haven’t seen that for ages) and anything by the Black Sheep Brewery (visiting again in 3 weeks can’t wait!)

Wine, not a wine snob tend to buy from the wines clubs or supermarkets, either a bone dry white or a full bodied red, tend to buy new world or Italian or Spanish.

Spirits – Love single malt, with or without water depends on my mood, a good sour mash or bourbon. Tequila’s fine in a long drink, dry gin with freshly squeezed lime is great in the garden after a long hot summer’s day, G & T as well.

Bit of drinks tart tbh!

Cheers

Paul

Because I went out last night, got very drunk, spent lots of money and got back past midnight. And I've got The Bourne Identity on DVD and I want to watch it after Question Time.

Anything

Seriously, I'm so easy with drink it's terrible!

I am a plonkie by heart, I'm the only one in my halls to always have a bottle open (I'm generous, though and only drink the good wines!) and usually ask for an Archers and Lemonade or a gin and slimline tonic. Other than that...Anything goes. I will down a pint if set in front of me, I will drink cocktails or champagne. Company and beverages according change me like a chameleon!
