You may remember, a couple of weeks back, that I did a thread about a rather nasty accident on the A3, just outside of Potters Well, which lead to the closing off of the A3 in both directions...

It happened again today, in almost exactly the same spot, only worse - This time they were cutting bodies out of the wreckage.

I pretty much had a front row seat for this one - If I'd left my house thirty seconds earlier I might have been the car that got hit when a truck crossed over from the opposite carriagway and ploughed head-on into the traffic.

So, after four hours of being stuck in traffic and having to drive the wrong way back up the A3 in order to leave it, and having covered less than ten miles, I have returned, and I have to say I was very impressed at the way in which Surrey Police (and other emergency services) handled the situation.

It brought a smile to my face to see a T5 estate with a red "thank you" message displayed in the rear window as I drove back up the Burpham sliproad (the same one I'd used getting onto the A3 hours before) and towards Guildford.

So, respect to Surrey Trafpol and all the other guys and gals...

It was...

I think they were literally scraping bits of people out of the crash site.

I was surrounded on all sides by police cars, fire engines and ambulances at one point...

One guy got driven off with a nasty looking neck injury, and apparently there were some walking wounded as well.

I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to have to call for assistance there recently when the engine blew up (literally) near ripley on December the 6th, the BIB were great, although they managed to destroy the front end of the car when towing the vehicle to the services, they admitted liability, Last week
