I've always been told to avoid milk like the plague whilst indulging in der schitzenspitz......

Something about feeding the bug......

No idea.
Mind you I hate milk and haven't touched it for 30 years. I tend to prefer hot orange juice when I'm ill. Dunno why, but there you go. Give it a shot, what have you got to lose? Apart fom the retaining spring on your sphincter that is...

Drink plenty of fluids, if you have leather seats, get yourslf down to tesco and get some mineral/salts replacement medicine stuff and a couple of car mags for those long drawn out trips to the lav.

If symptoms persist, consult your GP, and just think how good it all is for your figure!

Get well soon

Defo not milk. Water or flat Diet Coke (this is not my usual quality of advice I did actually get this from a quack)

Dunno, but while you're waiting, it might cheer you up to go through that immortal ditty penned by, err, Les Patterson.....I think......

I've had liquid laughs in baths,

And I've HURLED from moving cars,

And I've chuckled when and where it suited me, eeeeee,

But if I could choose a spot,

To regurgitate me lot,

Then I'd chunder in the old Pacific Sea.....

Throw it up,

Throw it up,

Crack another dozen tubes of prawns with me eeeeeeee,

If you've got to throw your voice,

Mate, you won't have any choice,

But to chunder in the old Pacific Sea eeeeeeeeeeeeee

Etc, etc.........

Hot orange, seriously. Plenty of vit. C, warmth, what more could you need? Apart from ringpiece-shaped ice cubes, perhaps....

Maybe you should just go to sleep Gaz. Sleep solves everything.

I can sympathise, I had a shellfish induced near death experience which went on for about a week! Not pleasant as we only had one 'small room' at the time

I can't, spent from 4am Satnight/Sun morning, until 3pm Mon afternoon in bed (obviously includes trips to the small room), now not particuly sleepy, esp when thrashing about with cramps.

Sounds like you have had quite the weekend. Just be a MAN, tought it out.

Do get better while ur at it. you have my sympathy.

Gaz, do you not have anything like Imodium AD over there?

If not, look for some sort of over the counter medicine with Loperamide for the squirts and Simethicone for the gas.

Of course, I'm not a doc so maybe a UK GP will chime in, there appear to be a few about

Cheer up, it shouldn't last long...

Gaz, whatever you do, DON'T think of the scent of stale meat or fetid butter. It'll only make it worse.

Some advice from past experience.
What ever you do, DO NOT drink sports drinks of any kind. Especially gatorade.

Or cold greasy tripe and custard.

Isn't it suprising how comfortable a cold toilet floor can be to sleep on at certain times of your life?...............

You must replace body salts, so lucozade is best. If none around then water a must cos you are just getting more and more dehydrated. No food as this will just give the bug something to work on. Only fluids to flush the system through.
Good luck.
PS immodium good for cementing up but doesnt kill the bug which is whats causing the agony. Best IMHO to flush through.

The British army in combat have a problem with food poisoning. Combat conditions are unhygenic so these bugs are far easier to catch and once a soldier has the trots he is useless. They discovered that a single 500 mg dose of the antibiotic Ciproxin cured over 90% of food poisoning almost immediately. British army medics call it Domestos because it kills all known germs. This became embedded in backpacker folkore and I have had it confirmed to me by a consultant gastric surgeon.
It definitely works, I have had occasion to use it quite a few times in my world travels and have also administered it to many fellow travelers to good effect. It is readily available over the counter in many countries including Spain. However in the UK you need a prescription.
