Credit Agencies - bewarned
Discussion
Many of you will be aware that I recently moved over to Ireland.
Somehow both Equifax and Experian have managed to lose my credit history.
All my credit cards have been moved over here, to the Irish address. Now when these credit agencies receive the automatic information every month from my credit card companies, they can't process the information as Ireland doesn't use post codes.
I'm fecking livid, having spent the best part of yesterday on the phone to Equifax to be told this morning, sorry their is nothing we can do.
Thye seem utterly incapable of correcting this problem and now my entire credit history has been lost.
wtf am I supposed to do?

Arent you in Eire?
If so, thats a different country. I'm not suprised your credit doesnt carry over. Same with US etc etc.
The only real way to carry something over is to get an Amex...
It's not a case of carrying it over, the issue is that these companies were holding my credit history and now they have no information against my name.
Experian are being a bit more helpful in that they have admitted that something isn't right, all the historical information should still be against my name at my previous UK address.

So have you done a credit report request giving just your last UK address and the one before that?
yup, all the history has been wiped out.
Strangely Equifax show me as having one of my credit cards, but Experian admit they are utterly flumoxed why all my account history has been lost.
There is a register of known emigrants this is used by the distressed market to find bad debtors.
There is a slim chance that you have been put on this by mistake I suppose.
It is exceptionally odd that they have 'lost' your credit history as for you certaintly they arent providing their services but for financial institutions this is exceptionally worrying as if your history was very bad you would be starting again.
I'd speak to the helpdesk again a bit more sternly this time perhaps mentioning things like breaches of DPA and the like. I am sure someone could be prompted into looking into this a little further...
