I had a delivery by UPS from US and the robbing bastards charged Import Duty and VAT on a stack of clothes and a fee of £20-£30on top. Is this just a money spinner for them with 'their charge' or what?

I paid by check and they left the parcel but on thinking about it i dont have a contract with UPS and did not sign anything on the door step. How do i stand if i cancel the check. Do i hae C&E chase me or do UPS chase me? Anyone done this? where would you stand?

UPS will chase you, as they will have already paid the tax on your behalf.

unfortunately you do have to pay

you will get even more annoyed when you find out they dont just tax you on the amount of the goods they include the postage sometimes and or charge a fee for custome handling

approx 20% tax and duty + spurious courier charges.

so C&E hae 5their money so i am not messing with them?

so if i cancel thecheck UPS and UPS only will chase me, but i hae no contract with them, where do they stand?

Not sure about this but I am sure that most major banks charge a fee of about £20 - £25 for cancelling a cheque unless there was fraud involved/you can charm the person on the other end of the phone.

Bottom line - UPS are gits, read their T and C's carefully should there be a next time and put this one down to 'experience'.
