Bitumen poured around your borders would do it.

But then you'd need new carpets too.

Well I feed our out-of-date stuff to our local foxes (in fact, Mr Brown is outside now), but I only rarely find fox turds in the garden.

Can't vouch for next doors garden though, as the neighbour does find the empty egg-shells occasionally

Have you seen Stephen King's "Cat's Eye"?

All you need is some plastic coated sheet wire mesh with the insulation strategically stripped back every few inches or so and a transformer set at around 50V.
It won't kill so you'll not be carrying carcases to the recycle depot but they won't come back either wink
It's a sort of glorified electric carpet that makes them "dance" eek

'Silent Roar' (can be bought from most garden centres), it contains lion poo, so cats and foxes think you have a BIG cat living on your territory and won't come near.

That's because the local rat population have eaten it all, before Mr. Fox gets a look in...

Don't know what you have against shot guns but there's definitely a few other options:

Air rifle - less certain to kill but a head shot should do it.
Rifle - sledge hammer to crack a nut, but it would work.
Crossbow - If you get the hang of it then it should make a mess of a cat
Sword - to really mark yourself out as a psycho

How do they know? If I walk into the loo and see a floater that didn't get flushed away with its buddies I have no idea if a big tall guy or a midget produced it?

Pheromones. Cats can tell. You need to lift out the nugget and sniff it, then you'd be able to tell too.

To the OP, aren't there high pitched electronic sounders you can get?

Get yourself a moggie and tie it up in your garden, Old foxys favourite food.

Game Keepers always used to do that then just shoot the fox, problem solved

In a suburb with lots of animals in a comparatively small area, I'll bet there probably isn't much you can really do.

I tried a number of 'repellents', however in the end I bought a cover for the car to stop foxes climbing on it and clawing the paint. That worked. thumbup

Now that I live in a semi-rural area, I don't find foxes to be a problem. Curiously there really aren't that many.

If you urinate around the edge of your property, the animals can smell that a bigger animal has 'marked its territory'.

Never tried it myself, but the theory works. I know a guy who swears by it.
