well, sort of.

I'm doing a science show next week, and- for reasons best kept to myself- I want to get the audience dressed as much as possible like Jelly Babies. Don't ask, you don't want to know.

Anyway, to do this, I was thinking that I'd get hold of -say- 100 disposable paper boiler suits in assorted primary colours, that with the hoods up would look the part enough to do the job. Y'know, silly and funny.

Trouble is, I cant find any anywhere that aren't mostly just white. I did find some red (a bit of a stty embolism red though), but I totally cant find any others. Does anyone have any ideas?

Failing that, I've also been looking for kagoules, pac-a-macs, that kind of thing, and whilst I can find those in brighter colours, they're pretty expensive for what is essentially a throwaway gag. No, not that kind of gag. I did also find some disposable rain ponchos in lots of nice colours for about 60p a go which seem ideal, but because they're plastic we cant really print on them, and if we can, we really need to get the sponsors logo on there somewhere too.

So does anyone have any ideas? Ideally they should be:

  • able to make children look like jelly babies.
  • cheap-ish
  • available in blue, red, green, yellow, and black or maybe orange
  • have hoods
  • able to be printed on
  • re-usable if possible
I'd really appreciate anything you could suggest, folks and I'll happily send my body-weight in Jelly Babies to the person who finds me the best answer. Or- y'know- something you'd like, instead.

Thanks in advance,
N.

nice find, but I've spoken with them and the only way we can print on them is at source, and the minimum order is 2000. I need 100.

Theyre currently my number 1 option though.

I'm mildly dissapointed I thouht this was going to be the comprehensive solution to the 'dad at 13' problem.

Buy white boiler suits (the kind of disposable things you'd get from Homebase to paint in) and dye them?

Could you not buy the white ones and then lob them in the wash with some DIY clothes dye or food colouring?

The dye thing is a good idea, except that I think it might be tricky to do them equally- they have to look the same, that's part of the gag- and then dry them all again.

It's definitley worth a go though, I like the way youre thinking folks, thank-you.

Do keep them coming, please.

Ooo, getting there. These are good. They only need to be cheaper and all made of the same stuff now and we're there. Ish.

Thanks shirt, this is ace.
