Evening all. A good friend is in prison on remand waiting to be deported to france and has a problem he needs to pay £10000 bail to get out but cant as he has no access to his money if he wrote a letter to his bank would they transfer the money to the court, would his solicitor be able to contact the bank and transfer money for him. His family is in the philippines and and cant get over.I cant help as all of our money has just paid for the deposit on our new house. He seems to think that he cant ring the bank either.

I went to visit him today. First time for me in a prison, what a god awful place it is so depressing i hated it, i saw 5 young under 3 kids with there mums(all tracksuit wearing with massive gold(ish)earings and b.a.style necklaces.it was horrible seeing kids dragged through the prison maybe there could be more family friendly places to go to.im not saying it should be a holiday camp either.

If he's on remand, does he have a solicitor who can make enquiries on his behalf?

His solicitor should be able to sort this. It sounds like its his first time in trouble, so he wont know the ropes. He will learn quickly.

Don't you just a get bond for the amount, I didn't think you had to put up the actual cash.
Although that may differ as it is an immig problem.

Yellow pages...... Bondsman.

In some cases you have to put up the cash, other times a surety is enough.

Bail bondsman is what you need. I saw one in the movie 'Jackie Brown'. I guess they have them in the UK. His solicitor will know far far more about it all than you, I or anybody here.
