Number Plate backgrounds

I know number plates have been done to death but does anybody know about backgrounds ?

Both Mrs E and me need new back number plates as water has got in.

We both have backgroungs which are like a very fine honeycomb pattern.

Are these legal ?

To be honest I'm not that fussed but the Mrs really wants a new honeycombe background.

Any advice welcome
