So far I havn't seen anything from the goverment to say, that wherever possible everything should come from British companies and actually be made in Britain.

Has anyone else?

Nope but then I don't think our Gov are hoping to start a protectionism war with other countries either.

Would it not be cheaper to use British firms given the weakness of the pound right now?

I know it's illegal blah blah to explicitly request British only bids for the work, but how hard is it to collude with the firms to guarantee them the work. It's not like sneaky and underhanded aren't hallmarks of this government anyhoo. This time, however, if they ever got caught out, I'm not sure people would be all that concerned; a scandal it would certainly not be.

I can't imagine the Frenchies, if they had won the bid for the Olympics, being all too concerned about using homegrown construction.

Anyway, I expect the whole event to be cocked up in some way......typical British optimist here biggrin
